As the light begins to escape, a sense of panic rises. She tries desperately to hold onto the lightness that remains. When extinguished, all hope is lost until she finds her new source of light. Glow is a story of two light nymphs journeying through the forest. When the light nymphs are separated, one of them finds themself in the shadowy and mysterious side of the forest and the nymph is ensnared by its’ darkness. It is then up to her friend to help her. This animation takes on themes of change, acceptance, and light versus dark as the light nymph helps her friend in need. In the animation, Christina connects to her audience with emotion as the troubled nymph struggles with what she has become and the loss of her own light. The story brings in the theme of light versus dark both visually and through storytelling. One can visually experience the doubt and the hopelessness the tainted nymph goes through when her friend helps her to find her new light. When hope is lost and the “light” has been extinguished, there will always be a new source hope. One will feel love and acceptance in times of change.
